SERMON NOTES:

You have heard that it was said, we have been born into a living hope.

We can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air -- but not a single second without hope.

Eleven Effects from the Presence of Hope

 1. Have more satisfying relationships

 4. Be more successful
 5. Feel more satisfied
 6. Be more compassionate

 8. Be physically healthier
 9. Hold to higher moral and ethical standards
10. Be more likely to assume leadership
11. Be more likely to see God as loving, caring and forgiving

Discouragement is the anesthetic the devil uses on a person just before he reaches in and carves out his heart. When people lose hope, they lose their ability to dream for the future. Despair replaces joy. Fear replaces faith. Anxiety replaces prayer. Insecurity replaces confidence. Tomorrow’s dreams are replaced by nightmares. It’s a lousy way to live. Howard Hendricks

When you say a situation is hopeless, you are slamming the door in the face of God. Charles L. Allen

The abundant life is one that never ends. The crazy thing is, Jesus is teaching that we don’t have to wait until the end of our physical life to receive it and to enjoy it. Abundant life includes peace, a genuine purpose for living, joy in the face of adversity—including death—without fear, and the ability to endure hardship with confident assurance.

But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going to Galilee. There you will see him just as he told you.
Mark 16:7

God's Will of Decree vs. Will of Command

Hope is the highest-octane fuel in the universe.
Ray Johnston

I’ve found that if I pray for God to move a mountain, I must be prepared to wake up next to a shovel.

The Ten Percent Solution

When people get that 10 percent improvement, they get hope. And when someone gets hope, anything is possible.
